1.But I’m afraid I may be a little late.恐怕我可能要晚一些。

(1)may是情態(tài)動(dòng)詞，表示可能性。如:

①He may be at his office.他也許在辦公室。

②May I borrow your ruler？我能借你的尺嗎？

(2)a little用法有:

①修飾可數名詞(單數)，意指“小而可愛(ài)”。

There is a little boy near the river.河邊有個(gè)小男孩。

②修飾不可數名詞，意為“有點(diǎn)點(diǎn)”，“有些”。

I have a little food with me.我隨身有點(diǎn)食品。

③修飾大小、輕重等表示程度，意為:“有點(diǎn)點(diǎn)”，“稍有點(diǎn)”。

The skirt doesn’t fit me，it’s a little small.這裙子不合我身，它有些小。

She can’t lift the box. It’s a little heavy.她舉不起盒子，有點(diǎn)重。

2.Would you like to come？你愿意來(lái)嗎？

Would you like to do sth.或 would you like sth.用來(lái)征求對方意見(jiàn)或邀請。為:

Would you like a cup of tea？你愿意要杯茶嗎？

Would you like to go with me？你愿意和我一塊去嗎？

3.There’s no time to think！沒(méi)時(shí)間思考了！

①There’s no time to do sth.沒(méi)時(shí)間做某事了。如:

There’s no time to have breakfast.沒(méi)時(shí)間吃早飯了。

不定式作賓語(yǔ)修飾前面的名詞，這種現象在英語(yǔ)中非常多，如:

Do you have anything to say？你有要說(shuō)的嗎？

We have a lot of things to do.我有許多事要做。

②no=not a或 not any.

We have no sweaters for you.我們沒(méi)有運動(dòng)衣給你。

4.…said Ann with a／big smile.安帶著(zhù)笑臉說(shuō)。

(1)這是個(gè)倒裝句，當引用的話(huà)放在前面時(shí)常這樣。如:

“Thank you for your inviting” I said.“but I have to ask my mother.”

“非常謝謝你的邀請”，我說(shuō)，“可是我得問(wèn)問(wèn)我媽媽。”

(2)with意思指“伴隨”，“附有”，如:

①to go out with no hat on不戴帽子出去。

②With a word:“Goodbye”， he left he office.說(shuō)了聲“再見(jiàn)”，他離開(kāi)了辦公室。

5.Happy birthday！生日快樂(lè )！

(1)當別人祝生日快樂(lè )或夸你時(shí)，應答語(yǔ)常用:Thank you.

(2)當別人在某節日場(chǎng)合向你祝賀時(shí)，應答語(yǔ)常用:The same to you.如:新年到來(lái)，兒童節時(shí)。

have可與其它詞構成許多短語(yǔ)，為:

have a look看一看，have a class上課，have a swim游泳，

have a rest休息，have a good time玩得高興，have a meeting開(kāi)會(huì )

have a walk散步，have a talk談話(huà)，have breakfast在吃早餐

have lessons上課

7.I’m sorry to hear that.聽(tīng)到此我很遺憾。

當聽(tīng)到別人之不幸或不能令人滿(mǎn)意之事時(shí)，常說(shuō)此句話(huà)。

8.Can I take a message？我能帶個(gè)口信嗎？

take a message后接介詞短語(yǔ)for sb.(為某人)或 to sb.(給某人)

①Can I take a message for him？我能為他捎個(gè)口信嗎？

②I asked him to take a message to my sister.我請他給我妹妹帶個(gè)口信。

9.There was nothing but a card in it.里面除了一張卡外什么也沒(méi)有。

but“除卻”，如:

I can live anywhere but here.除卻這里，無(wú)論哪里我都能住。

【重點(diǎn)難點(diǎn)解析】

1.Don’t forget to tell Jim.別忘了告訴吉姆。

(1)forget“忘記”，反義詞為 remember“記住、記得”。它們的用法有:

①forget to do sth.“忘記做某事”(把要做的某事給忘了)。如:

I forgot to buy meat..我忘記買(mǎi)肉了。

②forget doing sth.“忘記做了某事”。(做過(guò)某事但忘記了)。如:

I forgot telling him.我忘記告訴過(guò)他了。

(2)say，speak，talk，tell都有說(shuō)、講意思，但用法上有區別:

①say“說(shuō)”，著(zhù)重說(shuō)的內容。

②speak“說(shuō)”、“講”，著(zhù)重說(shuō)的動(dòng)作，說(shuō)語(yǔ)言的能力。

③talk“談”、“報告”，常用于交談或作報告。

④tell“告訴”、“講述”，著(zhù)重告訴或講故事等。如:

The baby can say but can’t speak.這嬰兒會(huì )說(shuō)但不會(huì )講話(huà)。

He’s talking about a car show.他正在講一個(gè)車(chē)展。

He’s always telling stories.他總是講故事。

2.I hope you can come to my party next Sunday.我希望你下周日能來(lái)參加我的聚會(huì )。

英語(yǔ)中向別人提出邀請，常用I hope you can…或Would you like／love to…？(參觀(guān)上文2)。應答語(yǔ)有:

①表示愿意時(shí)常用:Thanks for…或I’d like／love to或 I’m glad to或I’d very happy to或 How nice等。

②表示不能或不愿意常用:I’m very sorry, but…或I’d like/love to, but...或Thank you，but…或 sorry，I can’t.

3.May I speak to Ann，please？請安接電話(huà)好嗎？

1)英語(yǔ)中表示請求、請示可用 May／Could I…？(禮貌的請求)Can I…？

在熟人之間或非正式場(chǎng)會(huì )肯合答語(yǔ)有:

Yes，do please或 Yes或 Certainly或Of course或 That’s OK或That’s all right.

否定答語(yǔ)有:

I’m sorry but…或You’d better not…。

(2)這是一個(gè)打電話(huà)時(shí)的常用語(yǔ)。其答語(yǔ)可根據情況有:

①This is Ann speaking／Ann here／Ann speaking／speaking我就是安。

②I’m afraid she’s out／not here.她不在。

③Certainly/Wait a minute/just a moment please.請稍等。

4.December 21 was Becky’s fourteenth birthday.十二月二十一日是 Becky的十四歲生日。

表示“多少歲的生日”常用“序數詞+birthday”。比較:

Today is my sixteenth birthday(正確)

Tomorrow is my eight birthday(錯誤)

5.There on the desk she found her present.在桌子上她發(fā)現了她的禮物。

這是個(gè)倒裝句。正常語(yǔ)序為:She found her present on the desk.

here there常使句子倒裝。如:Here comes the bus.車(chē)來(lái)了。
