1. develop his love for theatre.

6.remind …somebody … （常與of, to + inf, that連用）使想起；使記起；提醒

7. lay the foundation of 打下…的基礎， 奠定…的基礎

8. be believed to 被認為:
e.g. At 115, Mrs Jackson is believed to be the oldest person in the country.

9. servant: 傭人， 仆人
e.g. Fire and water may be good servants, but bad masters.
[諺]水火是忠仆, 用之不慎成災主。
A politician should be a servant of the people.

10. whale:

11. set out: 出發(fā), 開(kāi)始，著(zhù)手， 陳述

12. collision: n.碰撞, 沖突
e.g. The school bus was involved in a collision with a truck.

13. companion: 伴侶；同伴
e.g. a travelling companion 旅伴

14. overboard： adv向船外；落水
He fell overboard. 他從船上掉入水中。

Everybody on board was worried and we were curious to find out what had happened.

16. permanent: adj 永久的；不變的；耐久的

18. pass through: 經(jīng)過(guò)，穿過(guò),經(jīng)歷

那條路十分擁擠, 汽車(chē)難以通行
He passed through the university courses last years.他們熬過(guò)了困難的歲月
