Some other notes in this unit:
1. When was he born? 他什么時(shí)候出生的？
He was born in 1895. 他出生于1895年。
be born 意為"出生"，后面加介詞短語(yǔ)"in 1895". 這實(shí)際上是被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)，結構為"be+動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去分詞"表示"主語(yǔ)被...."在句中，人是被生出的，因此用被動(dòng)態(tài)，born原形是bear，意為產(chǎn)生、生育。
2. start doing sth. Start to do sth. Begin to do sth 都可以表示開(kāi)始做某事。
start意為"開(kāi)始"后接名詞，動(dòng)名詞或動(dòng)詞不定式。
eg: The old men started singing / to sing.
老人們開(kāi)始唱歌。
They started the party with dancing.
他們以跳舞來(lái)開(kāi)始這個(gè)晚會(huì )。
另外，start還有"開(kāi)動(dòng)、發(fā)動(dòng)、創(chuàng )辦、出發(fā)"等詞義。
eg: My father couldn't start the car.
我父親起動(dòng)不了那車(chē)。
start與begin同義，都是"開(kāi)始"，但在表示"開(kāi)動(dòng)、發(fā)動(dòng)、創(chuàng )辦、出發(fā)"等詞意講時(shí)，start不能用begin.

eg:

這個(gè)男孩太小了，還不能自己穿衣服。
b. This house is too big to clean in one day.
這幢房子太大了，一天內打掃不完。
c. She is too young to go to school.
她太小不能去上學(xué)。

join －take part in兩者都表示"參加"，join指"參加"某種組織。take part in 表示參加某項活動(dòng)。
eg: He joined the Party at the age of 40.
他40歲時(shí)入了黨。

其中70-year做history的定語(yǔ)，所以year不能用復數。
如：a four-year old girl 一個(gè)四歲女孩。
9.年齡表達方法
（1）用基數詞表達年齡，可以加上"...years old"three years old.
（2）用when引導的從句 when I was three（years old）
（3）at the age of ＋基數詞 at the age of three
（4）基數詞＋-year-old three-year-old，注意這種表達常作定語(yǔ)
如a three-year-old boy.
